What this site is
The Non-GamStop Almanac is an independent, editorial research site covering the online gambling sector that operates outside the UK Gambling Commission's licensing perimeter. Our focus is on the regulatory, financial and consumer-protection dimensions of the "non GamStop" question: what these operators actually are, how they are licensed, what protections players lose by using them, and what harm-reduction alternatives are actually effective.
We are a research and journalism operation, not a comparison site or an affiliate network. We do not maintain a list of "recommended" offshore casinos. Who writes for us
Three researchers contribute the bulk of our content. Nathaniel Ashcroft covers regulation and licensing, drawing on nine years of compliance consulting experience with UKGC and MGA operators. Priya Ramesh covers the payments ecosystem, drawing on her reporting for UK trade publications. How we source our material
We prioritise primary regulatory documents (UKGC Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice, published licence registers, statutory instruments and ordinance texts from offshore jurisdictions), peer-reviewed academic research on gambling harm and regulation, Freedom-of-Information data from GamCare and the UKGC, and named-source interviews with practitioners in compliance, harm reduction and payments. Where we describe common offshore practice, we source from published complaints casework and named regulator communications rather than from anonymous forum reports.
Funding and editorial independence
The site's operating costs are met by a mix of harm-reduction advocacy contracts and modest editorial licensing of specific research pieces to third-party outlets. We do not accept advertising on this site. We do not have affiliate arrangements with any gambling operator, UKGC or offshore. No author holds shares in any gambling operator, and we require conflict-of-interest disclosure on every piece of contributed content.
Corrections and complaints
We take editorial accuracy seriously. If you spot an error, an out-of-date figure, or a source we have misattributed, please email the editor at [email protected]. We log corrections on the affected page rather than silently editing content, and we publish substantive corrections in the site's monthly update note. Complaints about editorial conduct are handled through the same channel and are escalated to the site's independent editorial advisor where necessary.
