Who we are
The Non-GamStop Almanac (referred to below as "this site", "we" or "us") is an independent editorial site published at https://diyconservatoryquote.co.uk. This privacy notice explains what personal data we collect from visitors, how we use it, and the rights you have over that data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What data we collect
This site is intentionally low-data. We do not require you to register, and we do not collect an email address unless you voluntarily send us one through the editor contact address. In normal use we collect:
- Server-log data. Our hosting provider records the IP address, browser user-agent string, referring URL and time of each page request. These logs are retained for 30 days and are used solely for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
- A single first-party cookie named
cb_dismissed, set only if you click the "Got it" button on our cookie banner, to remember that you have dismissed the banner. This cookie contains no personal information and is not shared with any third party.
We do not use third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or social-media tracking pixels on this site. We do not use fingerprinting techniques. We do not sell, rent or trade personal data.
Lawful basis for processing
Our lawful basis for processing server-log data is legitimate interest (article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) — specifically, the interest in operating a functional and secure website. The cookie is set only after your explicit action to dismiss the banner, and can be cleared at any time using your browser's cookie management tools.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to request access to any personal data we hold about you, correction of inaccurate data, deletion in certain circumstances, and to object to our processing. Because we hold no data beyond time-limited server logs, requests are typically resolved by us confirming that no data corresponding to your details is retained. You have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Third-party links
Our content links to third-party sites including regulator websites, charity resources and academic publications. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and following an external link takes you outside the scope of this notice.
Changes to this notice
We update this notice when our practices change or when a change in law requires it. Material changes are logged with the date at the top of this page. Minor typographical corrections are made without a version change.
Contact
To exercise any of the rights above, or for any privacy-related question, contact the editor at [email protected]. We respond to substantive privacy requests within 30 days of receipt.
